Hyflon® MFA® products are low melting point PFA resins designed to compete directly with FEP. All grades are classified in accordance with ASTM D-3307. Within the Hyflon® MFA® family both the Hyflon® F series and Hyflon® MFA® 1041 are offered.
Hyflon® MFA® is a unique family of polymers with a lower melting point (265 - 275° C), exceptional stress crack resistance, high flex life, and continuous service temperatures up to 225° C.
Hyflon® MFA® 1041 is a high melt flow rate resin specially designed for high speed extrusion. MFA® 1041 delivers superior electrical performance in addition to excellent fire characteristics, physical properties, and processability.
Moreover, Hyflon® MFA® resins offer this unique combination of properties:
Maximum service temperature up to 225° C
Excellent stress crack resistance, much better than FEP resins
Very high folding endurance
Chemical resistance and permeation resistance equivalent to traditional PFA
Exceptional optical clarity and UV light transparency
Markets and Applications
Chemical process industry: Hyflon® MFA® F can be widely used in the chemical process industry due to its virtually universal chemical resistance up to 220 - 230° C. Specific applications include protective linings of tanks, reactors, and heat exchangers, tower packing, and applications where FEP is also used.
Wire & cable: Hyflon® MFA® F resins are used to replace FEP in such applications as automotive wiring, heater cables, coaxial cables, and down hole cables. Hyflon® F's excellent thermal stress crack resistance and good mechanical properties allow them to be used continuously up to 225° C.
Hyflon® MFA® 1041 is widely used for high speed extrusion of insulation for plenum rated LAN cables, thin walled coaxial cables and consumer electronics.
