Algoflon polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) products offer excellent chemical resistance and unique properties over a wide temperature range from cryogenic to 260°C/500°F. In addition to their chemical and temperature resistance and non-flammability, they exhibit excellent physical, electrical, and anti-stick properties due to their high molecular weight and molecular structure.
Algoflon PTFE is useful in a wide variety of industries including chemical, automotive, electricity & electronics and others. These products are offered in a broad range of grades including granular fine cuts (not available in the U.S.), free flows, compounds, fine coagulated powders, aqueous dispersions, and micropowders.
Two basic polymerization processes are used in order to obtain two different classes of polymers, which are also processed by different techniques: suspension polymerization and dispersion polymerization. The former is suitable for molding or ram extrusion after appropriate treatment. Dispersion polymerization, resulting in aqueous dispersion of polymers after concentration and formulation, can be used for impregnation, cast films, dedusting and coating. Coagulated powders obtained from aqueous dispersions are used in paste extrusion technology. Micropowders can be obtained from both polymerization processes.
