Solvay Solexis offers three families of perfluoropolyethers (PFPEs) for personal care applications.
Fomblin® HC Classic & Light unmodified PFPE oils with different molecular weights and viscosity are ingredients of top quality creams and lotions, combining oil and water repellency, skin feel, skin breathability, and safety.
Fomblin® HC Functional chemically modified PFPEs for additional benefits and new formulating potential (e.g. hydrogels, superfluid emulsions for wet wipes and sprays, multiple emulsions). They are suggested for the preparation of protective products (HC/SA-18 and HC/P2-1000), water resistant sunscreens (HC/SA-18, HC/P2-1000), self-tanners with improved stability (HC/P2-1000), non-irritant acidic compositions (HC/P2-1000, e.g. with alpha-hydroxyacids), make-up products (HC/OH-1000, HC/P2-1000).
Fomblin® HC Copolymers are fluorinated polyurethanes (anionic and cationic), available as aqueous dispersions. They can be formulated with conventional procedures to prepare any type of technical forms provided it is minimized the combined use on anionic and cationic ingredients. Excellent oil and water repellency is the main property of hydrogels and O/W emulsions containing these materials. The anionic polyurethane is suggested for skin protectants and sunscreens while the cationic polyurethane is suggested for hair conditioners and acidic compositions.
