The excellent chemical resistance, high purity and superior thermal and mechanical properties of Solef® PVDF are ideal for filter cartridge and housing manufacturing.
Halar® ECTFE is the first fluoropolymer melt-blown fiber that offers the chemical and temperature resistance properties not available in polypropylene, polyethylene and other non-wovens. Halar Melt Blown Fiber (MBF) can be calendered and hydroentangled to improve various properties. Halar MBF’s 4-7 micron diameter fibers provide high surface area in liquid or dry filtration at temperatures and hostile conditions where other melt blown media would melt or corrode. It is chemically inert with a much higher temperature capability than polyolefin. Halar MBF will not support combustion. Inertness, low surface energy, and small fiber size also make these non-wovens excellent choices for the separation of immiscible liquids by coalescence or the elimination of mists in systems containing aggressive chemicals.
Fully fluorinated perfluoropolymer yarns and fibers made from Hyflon® MFA are an exciting new, and unique product for high performance filtration, aerospace, automotive, engineered sportswear and equipment, semiconductor, and chemical process industry applications. MFA fiber is impervious to virtually all industrial chemicals over a wide temperature range, with the same corrosion resistance as PFA and PTFE. It has excellent high use temperature capability (up to 250° C), a very low critical surface energy making the product extremely water repellant, excellent UV and weathering resistance, and very low flammability (oxygen index > 95).
The fine crystalline structure of MFA leads to an extremely smooth fiber surface, which will give unique release properties in industrial filtration and belting applications. Industrial gas and liquid filtration where high temperature, harsh chemicals, or surface fouling makes existing media unacceptable. Woven filtration fabrics, support scrims, or non-woven forms such as needled felts, air laid felts, wet-laids and other roll goods can be designed for filtration media, filtration support, drainage layers, and other internal components associated with filtration and separation processes.
Algoflon® PTFE is virtually immune to chemical attack over a wide temperature range, do not have any known solvent, and is non-flammable (limiting Oxygen Index > 95). Due to its very low critical surface energy, Algoflon PTFE is also highly water repellent. For all these reasons Algoflon D dispersions are currently used for impregnation filtration fabrics (both woven and non-woven). Algoflon DF powders can be used to produce both expanded PTFE or PTFE fibers for the manufacture of filtration media with unique release properties combined with very high chemical and thermal resistance.
