Solvay Solexis offers a variety of materials used in the Pulp and Paper industry. Fluid handling systems made from rugged fluoropolymers outlast metals and other plastics. Unlike metals, fluoropolymers are not sensitive to pH, moisture, and strong oxidizers, and are not attacked by a broad variety of chemicals. Process changes required by environmental regulations have resulted in increasing corrosive plant conditions, situations in which highly inert fluoropolymers excel.
The durability and chemical resistance of Solef® PVDF make it ideal for screening used in paper production.
Solvera® PFPE is the first new fluorinated surface treatment for the paper market in more than ten years. The product is formulated to impart greaseproofing properties and reduced surface energy to paper used in pet food bags, fast food wrappers, pizza boxes, and microwave popcorn bags. It complies with FDA regulations 21 CFR 176.180 and 21 CFR 176.170 for paper and paperboard and does not contain perfluoro-octanyl sulfonate (PFOS) nor is it based on telomer chemistry.
